They're starting their own branch with the intent of focusing on a specific featureset -- good for them, and I sincerely hope it results in quality ideas/patches/whatnot being created. As a casual observer, I don't get the impression that Canonical wants their fork to supercede the Arch project; rather, I get the impression that they just want the ability to go off for a while and do their own thing in the hopes that it eventually results in a better UI for all concerned. Correspondingly, I'm not entirely sure what coopertion I should be skeptical about offering Canonical. Providing UI suggestions and feedback, if doing so is likely to result in a better UI being created (particularly should there be potential for that to feed back into GNU Arch proper) seems entirely appropriate. On the other hand, it seems quite unlikely that I would choose to use their fork should they make incompatible archive format changes without your agreement -- and as I get the impression that they understand and acknowledge that you "own" the archive format and protocol, this possibility doesn't worry me much either. Could you clarify, then, as to what I should be skeptical about at this stage? _______________________________________________ Gnu-arch-users mailing list Gnu-arch-users@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/gnu-arch-users GNU arch home page: http://savannah.gnu.org/projects/gnu-arch/
