General Dialup (SLIP, PPP, Shell, UUCP) General dialup accounts are those that are accessed as needed, ordinarily through shared modem pools at MV facilities. They are to be used for Internet access and not to pro- vide Internet services. * Shell and IP accounts include a standard Web page. * IP Accounts include up to 2 POP mailboxes, each additional mailbox $2/mo. * A shell account can optionally be set to telnet-only at half price. A telnet-only account is accessed over the Internet from another loca- tion, and so is not accessible via MV's dialup modems. * There is a 15-minute modem timeout to inhibit lines being tied up by idle sessions. * For new accounts, if you decide within 2 weeks or 15 hours of use (whichever comes first) that you don't want the account, you may can- cel it without charge. In this circumstance, the account must be explicitly cancelled; otherwise it will continue as an open account. * All new accounts, once accepted per above, require a $50 non- refundable deposit. $10 is charged as a setup fee and $40 is credited against service charges. UUCP Dialup Rates UUCP accounts are also accessed as needed, ordinarily through shared modem pools at MV facilities. With a dedicated Dialup IP account: * MV can provide primary and/or backup nameservice for a single domain. * MV can provide an NNTP news feed. * MV can provide access for a single news reader on our NNTP news host. Full-usage Leased line and Frame Relay Connections Leased line Internet connections are provided via dedicated telephone com- pany circuits. In-state Bell Atlantic rates are presented here. Frame Relay connections provide a high-speed dedicated Internet link. MV supports multiple frame relay connections per port at our office, which allows us to charge less for frame relay than for dedicated leased line access. For both leased line and frame relay connections: * MV can provide primary and/or backup nameservice for a single domain at no extra charge. * MV can provide an NNTP news feed at no extra charge. * MV can provide access for a single news reader on our NNTP news host at no extra charge. * MV can provide and route subnets for Internet-routable IP addresses for the systems on your network. See the pricing for Subnet Routing under Dedicated Dialup IP, above. * MV can provide a single telnet-only shell account at no extra charge. * Bell Atlantic monthly rates are base rates and do not include telecom- munication taxes, which are extra. MV can arrange the installation and maintenance of the Bell Atlantic line, and will bill you for the Bell Atlantic component. Unless you specifically want to deal with Bell Atlantic, your only maintenance and billing contact will be MV. * Customer site equipment is required. It can be purchased from MV or another source or leased through MV at an additional monthly rate. Bandwidth used beyond the base amount will be charged at $50/GB for all levels. Extra storage and bandwidth is calculated and priced to the nearest penny. * Standard level web space is included with a dialup account (shell or IP) at MV. If you need more than the standard web space that is pro- vided with your account, you can purchase additional standard web pages. Additional standard pages are only available to MV dialup cus- tomers and may not be purchased by themselves. * A server alias is a domain name that's mapped into a web page without using its own IP address. This is only useable with browsers that send the entire URL in requests; some older browsers send only the direc- tory portion of the URL. You must have web space on MV to use this level, and the charges for this level are in addition to the base rates of your current page. * An exclusive web service provides you with your own virtual server. This gives your web space its own IP address, and all browsers will work with it. An exclusive server will typically have a URL of http://www.your_domain.com. You can also receive the following ser- vices: - FTP access to maintain your data - A POP mailbox for a webmaster address - Usage data (formatted or raw form - your preference) * Any MV dialup customer receives a $5 savings on the monthly rate for the exclusive level. 5. Internet Domains MV will register and provide primary and/or secondary nameservice for a single domain for any customer, for a minimum of $20/month (offset by other account usage). Service for more domains will add $5/month to the minimum for each additional domain. Please contact us for a registration form. 6. Discounts The following discounts apply. Discounts may not be combined. A discount applies to a billing account only, not to individual items.
