Wed Feb 8 22:17:11 EST 1995 Note! I'm preparing to release an updated X11R6 package for sun4 systems. It will be patched through fix-11. I have removed the old version until the new one is available. --Paul INDEX ----- These files are packaged binary releases of MIT's (now the X Consortium's) releases of the X Window System. Everything here was compiled by Paul Southworth . The sun4 binaries were compiled on an 80Mhz (Weitek upgraded) SPARCstation IPX running SunOS 4.1.3. Some of these binaries were compiled for CICNet, Inc., an NSFNET mid-level internet network service provider serving the Great Lakes states. Contact info@cic.net for information about dialup or dedicated IP connectivity. Some of these kits were compiled just for my personal enjoyment, as an exercise in understanding the many options available when building X11 from scratch. Paul Southworth and CICNet, Inc. disclaim all liability for anything bad that might or might not happen as a result of your doing anything with any of these files. If you are afraid of other peoples' binaries, you should build everything from source yourself (that's what we do). If you use these binaries and find them valuable, please send me a note saying so or I might just delete them some day when I need the space. (Not likely.) If you find bugs, errors, or omissions that you think are a result of my ineptitude, send email to pauls@cic.net with an explanation. General X11 questions should go to comp.windows.x on usenet. I am not an expert on every possible configuration option available. -- Paul Southworth CICNet Systems Support pauls@cic.net What's here: ----------- INSTALLING.X11 How to install X11R5 or R6 binaries on a Sun. misc/X11R5-manpages.tar.gz Just X11R5 man pages x11-bin/sun3/X11R5-sun3.tar.gz Sun 3 binaries, no man pages. Minimal testing of this is complete. Use at own risk. Read the file "X11R5pl26-sun4-Xvan.README" for more info. x11-bin/sun4/X11R5pl26-sun4-multiscreen.tar.gz Just the Sun multiscreen servers, with their changed man pages, to be dropped in on top of the X11R5pl26-sun4.tar.gz package after it's installed. Supports multiple displays. I hear that this works, but I have never used it. x11-bin/sun4/X11R6pl11-sun4.tar.gz Full build of X11R6 for SunOS 4.1.x. Includes Fresco. Minimally tested. Let me know if you have problems with it. NOTE: Do read the Xsun24.README files before picking your Xsun24 server. All Xsun24 servers found here are built from version 3.0 of the Xsun24 patch kit, integrated into a patchlevel 26 X11R5 distribution, built under SunOS 4.1.3_U1 with gcc 2.6.3. x11-bin/sun4/Xsun24-nopixrect-directcolor.gz A 24-bit X11R5 server with pixrect code disabled and direct color. x11-bin/sun4/Xsun24-nopixrect-truecolor.gz A 24-bit X11R5 server with pixrect code disabled and true color. x11-bin/sun4/Xsun24-pixrect-directcolor.gz A 24-bit X11R5 server with pixrect code enabled and direct color. x11-bin/sun4/Xsun24-pixrect-truecolor.gz A 24-bit X11R5 server with pixrect code enabled and true color. x11-bin/sun4/Xsun24.README Notes on the 24-bit X11R5 X server. x11-bin/sun4/Xsun24.README.cgtwelve Notes on the 24-bit X11R5 X server, specific to cgtwelve (GS) frame buffer users. x11-bin/sun4/xview3.2p1-R5-sun4.tar.gz XView 3.2, patchlevel 1, built with Sun's /bin/cc against X11R5pl26. Includes the OpenLook development libraries and includes, and the olwm window manager. Note that this is version 3.2 -- the highest revision you can get from Sun to run under SunOS 4.1.x is 3.0. .
