WELCOME TO THE CHECS AIM AND OBJECTIVES: The Cooperative Higher Education and Career Studies (CHECS) consists of a team of researchers working on student development and career studies in higher education. The CHECS running under the GOPHER in the Internet is a central clearing house aims at promoting mutual understanding and facilitating discussion among researchers and practitioners on various issues of higher education and career development in the Asia-Pacific region. The four objectives of the CHECS are as follows: (1) To develop a database of literature on student development from both Western and Eastern perspectives. (2) To provide a discussion forum, both locally and internationally, for promoting the exchange of experience among researchers and practitioners. (3) To establish a career information and guidance network with up-to-date information at local, regional and international levels. (4) To develop a region-specific higher education network which paves the way for comparative studies involving interested tertiary educational institutions, professional associations and governmental agencies.
