The School of Communication is responsible for teaching the BSocSc 
Degree with Honours in Communication.  The School provides a broad-
based education in language, communication theory and research, and 
basic professional skills.  Students specialise in one of the six 
options:  Applied Communication Studies, Broadcast Journalism*, 
Cinema and Television, Digital Graphic Communication, Journalism, and 
Public Relations and Advertising.  Internationally and in Hong Kong, 
communication is one of the most rapidly expanding fields of study, 
and career opportunities for persons skilled in the collection, 
evaluation, processing, and dissemination of information abound.  
Graduates of the options of the Communication Course constitute a 
considerable portion of the working personnel in Hong Kong 
communication professions and media industries.

The School houses specialised facilities needed for film and 
television production, word-processing, desk-top publishing, digital 
graphic design, animation, printing, and photography.  In addition to 
practicum work on campus, internships in the local communication 
professions are arranged during summer breaks.

In addition, the school offers a research Doctor of Philosophy Degree 
and a research Master of Philosophy program as well as a taught 
M.A.in Media Studies.**
