MARKETING OPTION ================ Option Aims/Objectives & Careers -------------------------------- The Marketing Option aims to prepare students for careers in product management, advertising, retailing, marketing research, industrial marketing, sales management, and international marketing. The underlying intention is to educate students in logical and critical thinking and to develop their ability to apply that thinking to the solution of real and practical business problems in the marketing world. With these aims in mind, the objectives are: 1) To enable students to build a solid foundation in understanding the basic structure of business. 2) To instill in students the unique characteristics and underlying principles of the marketing mix. 3) To educate students in areas of both theoretical and practical functions in the diversified field of marketing. 4) To emphasize logical and creative processes and train students to be versatile and decisive marketing executives. Option Curriculum ----------------- The study plan is as follows: Year 1 Principles of Accounting, Introduction to Business, Principles of Management, Principles of Economics, Mathematics and Statistics for Business, Computer Applications in Business, English for Business, Communication in Modern Chinese, and Religion & Philosophy subject. Year 2 Principles of Law, Organizational Theory & Behaviour, Marketing Management, Marketing Planning, Marketing Research, Financial Management, Management Science, Consumer Behaviour, Business Communications, Religion & Philosophy subject, and one of the following Marketing subjects: International Business, Retailing, International Marketing, Industrial Marketing, Marketing in China, Services Marketing. Year 3 Strategic Management, Project, Marketing Communications, Sales Management, three other Elective subjects, and two of the following Marketing subjects: Retailing, International Marketing, Industrial Marketing, Marketing in China, International Business, Services Marketing. .
