XI. OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS The Office of Student Affairs strives to facilitate the total development, including the character and the potentials, of students, as individuals and as members of a community, through the provision of quality services and programmes, as well as the cultivation of a congenial yet stimulating campus environment. To complement the academic curriculum, through its three administrative sections, namely, the Activities & Amenities Section, the Counselling and Development Section, and the Placement Section, the Office provides services and organizes programmes and activities for students so as to achieve the University's goal of "whole-person education". In addition, it serves as a communication bridge among the students, the administration, and the teaching staff. 1. Activities and Amenities Section The University encourages students to organize and participate in activities and programmes that meet their various needs and promote their total-person development. Such activities may take the form of lectures, forums, debates, exhibitions, music and cultural performance, drama, sports, films and video show, etc. An electronic Student Bulletin Board is installed so as to provide information about the various programmes. The Section also manages the student lockers rental service, "lost-and-found" service, reservation of meeting rooms, multi- function rooms, and open-space podia for various activities. In addition, there are student common rooms and TV rooms for students to relax and meet their friends in an informal manner. 2. Counselling and Development Section A team of trained and experienced counsellors at the Counselling and Development Section is ever ready to provide assistance to our students in realizing their potentials in their social, emotional, intellectual and career development. Group counselling, skill training workshops, seminars and displays are organized throughout the year to meet the needs of various levels, while individual counselling is available at any time during office hours. 3. Placement Section The Placement Section, acting as a bridge among student, academic staff, and employers, aims to promote employment opportunities for students. The services rendered by the Centre are geared towards facilitating students’ career development as well as their job search. Staff members are requested to refer students to the various Sections of the Office for respective help and services. Besides, in each department, there will be a teaching staff member assigned to liaise with the Office of Student Affairs in the capacity as Student Development Advisor. .
