VI. ESTATES OFFICE The Estates Office is responsible for the following: 1. Planning and monitoring the development of the campus and other University sites to match with the growth of the University. 2. Liaising with Government Authorities and supervising architects / consultants / contractors for the design and construction of new building works of the University. 3. Management, maintenance, renovation and modification of existing buildings in campus and staff quarters, including building services (e.g. gas, water, drainage, electricity, air- conditioning), cleaning, security and landscaping works. 4. Supervising direct labour force (cleaners, labourers, carpenters, artisans) and contractors for the maintenance and management of the University's real property assets. 5. Controlling and co-ordinating, where necessary with University users, the use of all University land, building premises, and a ccommodation. 6. Development and implementation, through the Safety Unit, of safety programmes including Occupational Health and Safety programmes, Fire Safety and Emergencym programmes for the University, and Laboratory Safety programmes for the Science Faculty. .
