IV. CHAPLAIN'S OFFICE 1. Statement of Mission The Chaplain's Office is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing and supervising of Christian programmes, activities and ministries on campus. In general, there are seven categories of responsibility in the areas of education, evangelism, fellowship (Koinonia), worship, sacred music, pastoral care and service, and Christian literature. In the planning of all programmes, activities and ministries, the Chaplain's Office identifies its mission as follows: a. The Chaplain's Office provides pastoral care and counselling for the University community at large. b. The Chaplain's Office serves as a facilitator in providing opportunities for the University community to gain a better understanding and appreciation of Christianity and to develop and grow in personal faith. c. The Chaplain's Office cultivates, encourages, fosters, and nurtures a caring community spirit within the University. d. The Chaplain's Office assists in preserving and promoting the Christian heritage, tradition, and atmosphere within this institution of higher learning. 2. Specific Programmes, Activities and Ministries for Staff a. Weekly Noon-Time Worship (during the academic semesters) b. Monthly Faculty-Staff Assembly Programmes c. A Christian Emphasis Week each semester d. Faculty and Staff Fellowship; Staff Choir e. Monthly Worker’s Fellowship Meetings f. University-wide Christian counselling g. Occasional Gospel Luncheons h. Prayer and Bible study cell groups i. Outreach Ministries j. Baccalaureate Service k. Fund Raising Activities All staff are welcome to join each and every activity. 3. Recreation Centre Located at L5 (the basement) of the Christian Education Building, the Recreation Centre provides facilities for rest, relaxation, and recreation for the University community. The centre provides a lounge area where group interaction is facilitated. Other facilities include ping pong tables, an American pool table, 4-6 carom boards, and numerous table games which can be checked out at the counter. Soft drink machines are also available. In addition, the Co-ordinator of the Recreation Centre organizes special programmes and activities throughout the year. .
