I. GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Staff are reminded that in all matters concerning leave, the staffing requirements of the University must take precedence over all other factors. 2. Leave must be applied for and approved by the appropriate authorities before it is taken. 3. Records of casual leave and official leave (absence on duty) are kept by individual Departments/Offices; while records of annual leave, sick leave, maternity leave, study leave, special paid/unpaid leave, advance leave, and sabbatical leave are kept by the Personnel Office. 4. Staff who wish to go abroad during leave should inform the Head of Department/Office before departure from Hong Kong, and provide an overseas contact address. Staff are also reminded that unless they are members of the University New Medical & Dental Benefits Scheme and subject to fulfilling certain conditions as required under the Scheme, they are not covered by any medical benefits while travelling abroad on personal leave. Staff should therefore make their own arrangements for medical insurance coverage while travelling abroad. .
