II. PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT PROCESS 1. With a view to maintaining and further enhancing the standard and quality of performance of all staff colleagues in fulfillment of the education mission of the University, the Staff Affairs Committee of the University approved to implement a Performance Management Process for all staff with effect from the 1999/2000 academic year. 2. For academic staff, the process will involve the setting of performance expectations at the Faculty/School/Departmental level, the documentation of performance evidences in the form of an Annual Activity Report, the conduct of an Annual Consultative Meeting, and Formal Feedback on performance once every three years by a Faculty/School Panel. 3. For the non-teaching staff, the process will involve the key steps of Performance Planning, Performance Management and Performance Appraisal within a Performance Management Cycle. For a concise guide on implementing the Process, please refer to the Manual on Non-teaching Staff Performance Management. Staff members may also visit the Personnel Office website (http://www.hkbu.edu.hk/~pers) to gain access to information contained in the Manual, and to download the relevant forms. 4. As the Process is relatively new, comments and suggestions for improvement are most welcome and they can be addressed to the Personnel Office e-mail account (pers@hkbu.edu.hk). The Process will be reviewed in a year’s time after its operation, and thereafter on a regular basis for appropriate modification and updates. .
