The Hongkong Bank Foundation Overseas Scholarship Scheme 2001/2002

A maximum of three scholarships with the total value up to HK$676,815
are now open for application for undergraduate students who wish to spend
one year of their course of studies at designated overseas universities and
return to Hong Kong Baptist University to complete their studies and graduate.

The scheme is open to Year I students or Year II students studying Translation and
European Studies who meet the following requirements: 1) Hong Kong permanent
residents; 2) G.P.A. score  of 3.0 or above; 3) well-rounded; 4) in a financial
situation which does not permit extensive travel overseas; 5) committed to Hong Kong;
6) minimum TOEFL score of 213 (computer-based test) or IELTS score of 6.0; 7)with
majors in certain approved disciplines.

Application forms are now available at the Academic Registry. Closing date for
application is December 30, 2000 (Saturday). The University will recommend six best
candidates to the Bank. They will be invited to attend the Bank's panel interview
for selection in March/April. Conditional offers will be made to a maximum of three
scholars in April. Confirmation of the scholarship awards will be made no later than
July, subject to
1) formal admission by overseas universities; and
2) GPA score of 3.0 or above in the second semester in the academic year 2000/2001.
