What a great place for a show. It was comfortably full, but not too packed. (((Joe))) - great to see you - - - plus Sue Weiand, and a few other rmgder's, too - mostly lurkers these days, so I won't name names. ;-) Phil is looking good, the band is sounding good, lots of energy, lots of smiles - it was a lo-o-ong show. I'm not sure whether they started on time (8 pm) but it was 12:44 when the show ended. Here's the setlist as posted on DNC: Set 1: GDTRFB> Rocky Road Blues Peggy-0 Any Naked Eye Now It Gets Good? Friend Of The Devil Cumberland Blues The Wind and Rain Box Of Rain Cosmic Charlie Set 2: Wicked Messenger King Solomon's Marbles The Wheel Garden of Eden> The Other One I Am The Walrus Mountains Of The Moon Terrapin Station Not Fade Away E: Ripple Of particular note: Cosmic Charlie very high energy set 1 closer. The Wicked Messenger's jams, the transition into King Solomon's Marbles, *all* of KSM, the transition into The Wheel, and ~most~ of the wheel, especially the pedal steel solos - wow! The transition (and Phil's bass intro) into The Other One, ALL of the Phil bombs last night, making the room ring so we had that "inside the bell" feeling (and without it being overly loud,) the transition into "- - - inspiration, move me brightly - - - " out of Mountains of the Moon - - - "Ripple" to close the show - - - just a very special evening. katrinka ------------------------------ Reply-To: "Schmoe" From: "Schmoe" Subject: Re: New Years Eve plans???? At the Rex benefit at the Warfield in 2001, we had some taper behind us who had taken someone else's seat. When asked to move by the usher, he actually put up a fuss about it! He was insisting that the rightful user of the seat hang out in the aisle behind the seats, as he was already set up to tape. Fuck that, man! I mean, he didn't even offer to burn a copy of the show for the guy or anything, just "I'm taping". At the last "Dead" New Year's show at the Coliseum, some guy showed up in front of us, and insisted that I help him duct tape the seat in place, so that his taping rig didn't move. Do I get a "thank you" for helping? Do I get an offer of a copy of the show? Does the guy even say word one to me for the rest of the night, like a good neighbor? Hell no! Just fucking rudeness. And the most amazing thing to me...you'll see a million people set up to tape a show, but only a couple of different versions of the show will make it into circulation, If that. So where's the other versions? Do people just sit on their recordings? ------------------------------ From: bigchuck51@aol.com Subject: 1972 SBD SHN/FLAC Permavine Date: 28 Oct 2005 18:47:22 -0700 I can shis is going to be a long night. OK, Thanks to Richard the Benevolant and then Steve the Man I have 1972 to pass along. That's right, 1972. This still kicks my ass. 80+ shows on 20 DVD-r discs. When I was a kid in the '50's I remember seeing my grandparents player piano and being amazed. If they could see this, well crap... they probably would (crap). Anyway I digress, there is a whole shitpot of good stuff here and I will send it off noB noP to the first one to send me their address and a promise to keep this moving the same was, noB, noP. Joe ------------------------------ From: "mjd" Subject: Re: NDC Neo-con traitor indicted Date: 28 Oct 2005 19:41:31 -0700 well, not sure but I guess you could extrapolate based on the fact that just since the 2000 'truce', Palestinian terroists have killed 1,000 Israelis while Israelis have killed 3,500 Palestinians in defense/retaliation. All that tells me is that the Israelis a) are better fighters, and b) have been given better military gear by their good buddies the US. I'm not a big fan of killing anyone, really, but at the end of the day I still see the Israelis as a people who have always been defending themselves after having been given a mandate to exist from an ostensibly legitimate organization of nations. The Arabs chose to express their displeasure through violent rather than diplomatic means from day one. It was they who opened Pandora's box (well, it was already open for a thousand years - they just nudged the lid off). ------------------------------ ** FOR YOUR REFERENCE ** The service addresses, to which questions about the list itself and requests to be added to or deleted from it should be directed, are as follows: Internet: dead-flames-request@gdead.berkeley.edu Bitnet: dead-flames-request%gdead.berkeley.edu@ucbcmsa Uucp: ...!{ucbvax,uunet}!gdead.berkeley.edu!dead-flames-request You can send mail to the entire list (and rec.music.gdead) via one of these addresses: Internet: dead-flames@gdead.berkeley.edu Bitnet: dead-flames%gdead.berkeley.edu@ucbcmsa Uucp: ...!{ucbvax,uunet}!gdead.berkeley.edu!dead-flames End of Dead-Flames Digest ****************************** .
