They included a "meet and greet" with the band during the soundcheck, as well as the entire catalog on cd. I certainly can't have much respect for anyone who trots out the anti-Semitic ZOG theory, and I don't need to go a website to be convinced that Bush sold the nation a bill of goods on the Iraq war, but the article in question didn't contain any of that. Bush is certainly guilty of restricting civil liberties with the Patriot act, and his idea that US citizens can be held indefinitely without charges as in the Padilla case is frightening and clearly unconstitutional. ------------------------------ From: slucas_2@ya_nospam_hoo.com (Shawn Lucas) Subject: Re: Vegas '95 Date: Thu, 20 Oct 2005 06:37:50 GMT On Tue, 18 Oct 2005 20:33:14 -0400, "Bzl." wrote: > >"Ray" wrote in message >news:1129679582.097175.302930@o13g2000cwo.googlegroups.com... >> Carl Sparndan wrote: >>> i don't think the dead have done anything decent since 1993. pretty >>> pathetic considering how many tickets they've sold since then, eh? >> >> If you think 'The Dead' (Grateful, and apparently otherwise) haven't >> done anything 'decent' since 1993 and you continued to buy a lot of >> tickets anyway then yeah, that's pretty pathetic. >> >> Many people don't share your 'nothing decent' opinion however, >> including me (IMO many 'Dead' shows have been decent, even at times >> great; esp. some P&F shows). HC Sunshine was cool and the Playin' > UJB was decent, if somewhat standard. I also enjoyed SOTM>Around and ... darest I say it???...thought Vince's work actually made the Around worthwhile. Set I on 5/20 was short but sweet and pretty well played IMHO. That was the only Race is On I ever got to see so that was the highlight for me in Set I but I think that set is the "overlooked gem" in the run. Set II started off sluggish with a Chinacat that was slow and Jerry's guitar was not very audible...this comes through on the tape. Post space was pretty decent with that Dew being the not-so-overlooked gem of the run. You coulda heard a pin drop at some points in that Dew...the crowd was transfixed and Jerry had a pretty decent solo somewhere in there. 5/21 gets all the hype, if you can make a case of hyped up '95 GD. Again I enjoyed the first set of this one, Samson is always fun (to me...Loved those sunday shows!) and the Eyes was decent. UBChain on was a nice novelty but as has been discussed in here it wasn't done exactly perfect.Really as someone else said the best (energy wise) part of this one is the post - space, but I'll go on record saying that the Other One was actually a let down...again it seemed as though Jerry wasn't even playing, and when you can hear him, he's turned waaay down....Days between however was bittersweet and Sugar Mags was a strong finisher. Liberty was bouncy fun too...and then it was off into the desert roads towards Cali with my brain zooom zooom zoooming along. Not the worst shows I ever saw but aside from the highlights I mentioned they weren't all that either. All those names except Will Scarlet are listed on the poster, which says it was a benefit ($1 admission) - but doesn't say what the benefit was for! The poster calls this a "Rock Jam" and says it will be "Heavy". This used to circulate as "Unknown '67 from the Matrix". Jorma was a sked and he does remember this. One of the posters can be seen here -- I haven't listened to the gdlive version to see if it might be the same thing with a few cuts missing/edited. Date: Thu, 20 Oct 2005 06:03:12 -0400 DeLay Ordered to Texas for Booking By PAM EASTON, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 22 minutes ago RICHMOND, Texas - Rep. Tom DeLay was ordered to appear at the sheriff's office in his home county of Fort Bend for booking on state conspiracy and money laundering charges. A state court issued an arrest warrant on Wednesday for DeLay and set an initial $10,000 bail, a routine step before the Texas Republican's first court appearance Friday in Austin. DeLay could be fingerprinted and photographed, although his lawyers had hoped to avoid this step. Fort Bend County Chief Deputy Craig Brady said arrangements were being made to bring DeLay to the sheriff's office sometime Thursday for booking and fingerprinting. The process was expected to take 45 minutes to an hour. DeLay has stepped down as U.S. House majority leader ? at least temporarily ? under a Republican rule requiring him to relinquish the post if charged with a felony. Two grand juries have charged DeLay and two political associates in an alleged scheme to violate state election law, by funneling corporate donations to candidates for the Texas Legislature. State law prohibits use of corporate donations to finance state campaigns, although the money can be used for administrative expenses. The indictments charge that a DeLay-founded Texas political committee sent corporate donations to the Republican National Committee in Washington, and the national party sent funds back to the state for 2002 campaigns. DeLay has denied wrongdoing and accused Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle ? a Democrat ? of having partisan motives. Earle has denied the accusation. Earle did not ask for the arrest warrant for DeLay, but approved the court's request, his office said Wednesday. DeLay's Republican fundraising in 2002 had major political consequences, allowing the GOP to take control of the Texas Legislature. The Legislature then redrew congressional boundaries according to a DeLay-inspired plan, took command of the state's U.S. House delegation and helped the GOP retain its House majority. ------------------------------ From: "Everybody's Gonna Be Happy" Subject: Re: Vegas '95 Date: Thu, 20 Oct 2005 04:10:07 -0700 "JC Martin" wrote in message news:c0E5f.60$te3.1717@typhoon.sonic.net... > Ray wrote: >> I always loved the spectacle of all those Deadheads in Vegas. Saw a baby literally broiling in the sun, naked, while the "mom" tried to sell herself in the lot. For some reason that sort of thing just totally disgusted me this time, ruining my entire day. Felt real bad for Jerry; the usual disappointment coupled with anger. The earlier original unbridled thrill of having them come to my town for a long run, of seeing the clan descend on the Strip, of having Vegas turn into Mendocino for a weekend, had faded away by '95. My casino employee friends had originally found the heads endearing; they were saying all the usual stuff about how friendly and cool everyone was compared to the usual shlubs they had to take shit from. By '95 it had become "when do these smelly, rude, panhandling freaks go away?" All we wanted to do was get out of there and go swimming.
