They test for "metabolites", the substances that remain after your body metabolizes (digests) a particular substance. The problem with pot metabolites is that they lodge in fatty tissue and take 3 to 5 weeks of abstinence to clear out. I hear that A substance called "Goldenseal", Cranberry juice and water mixed with vinegar can speed up the process. Goldenseal can be found at Whole food stores. Date: Wed, 19 Oct 2005 20:22:16 -0400 Any words to say about The Simpsons moving over to the Arab world? 10/19/2005 - 'The Simpsons' on Arab TV, Homer's Duff beer becomes soda. While US foreign policy is not always a hit overseas, there is a huge audience for American popular culture. So the Arab satellite network MBC is bringing the cartoon saga of Springfield to the heart of the Arab world. After 17 seasons of entertaining US audiences, 'The Simpsons' can now be seen on Arab television. While US foreign policy is not always a hit overseas, there is a huge audience for American popular culture. So the Arab satellite network MBC is bringing the cartoon saga of Springfield to the heart of the Arab world. 'The Simpsons' has been exported overseas and is now called 'Al Shamshoon.' The new take on the cartoon classic debuted this month, just in time for the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, as first reported by The Wall Street Journal. With Homer is now named Omar, and Bart is called Badr. MBC hopes to win coveted young viewers. After all, 60 percent of the Arab world is 20 years old or younger. But with a show that is so distinctly American, Arab media experts say, it's not enough to just translate the language. Nadia Rahman, a professor at the Zayed University Media Centre in the United Arab Emirates, said they needed to translate the show linguistically, culturally, and socially in order to appeal to the audience watching there. She said there are a lot of details that one has to pay attention to, like the way the mother or the sister dresses. MBC has gone and removed references of things forbidden by the Koran. So MBC is making some changes as the characters go from American to Arab. They will remove references to things forbidden by the Koran, such as bacon, beer, and other references that might be construed as offensive. Homer Simpson's ubiquitous Duff beer will now be named soda in the Arab version of the show. Hot dogs will now become Egyptian beef sausages, and donuts will become named by the popular Arab cookies called "kahk." Moe's Bar has been completely written out of "Al Shamshoon." With characters who are Jewish (like Krusty the Clown), Hindu (like Kwik-E-Mart owner Apu) and Christian (like the family's pastor, Reverant Lovejoy), Al Jean, ' The Simpsons' executive producer, says those changes mean they aren't 'The Simpsons' anymore. Some on the Arab street agree. Many bloggers have also expressed discontent. One thing didn't change, according to Costandi. Omar Shamshoon still says "Doh!" bbb wrote: ***After all, 60 percent of the Arab world is 20 years old or younger.*** What's that telling you? ***They will remove references to things forbidden by the Koran, such as bacon, beer, and other references that might be construed as offensive.*** With out that, ya ain't Homer! They want to experience our culture, but through their eyes and the way they want it. This is kinda weird? I saw the producer of the Simpsons in the USA on TV and he said if it is altered like that, then it is "not" the Simpsons! . ***there is a huge audience for American popular culture.*** never a dull moment....... booie.......... .. .. I've actually seen Phish live (between 1992 and 2003) way more than I've seen the GD (between 1991 and 1995). After 2000 Phish was pretty much lame IMHO, so by the time they called it quits I had lost interest anyway...I gave away my tix (thank goodness) to the mess that was Coventry. Between '92 and 2000 though, I think I saw one single lonely Phish show that didn't really do "it" for me. The rest did "it" quite well to varying degrees of intensity. That said, extremely rare is the day when I even have a wisp of a thought to put Phish in my CD player...and I've been like that forever, even when I was seeing them 4 - 6 times a year. On the other hand, rare indeed is the day when I don't at least have some GD/Jerry/GD related music with me, if not playing on the stereo. Phish translated well live (up until Trey lost interest) but they just don't do "it" for me as a regular part of my music rotation. Having said all that, I can't believe that DP11, 9/27/72 is waaaaay down at #24 on the jambase list. That '72 shit is "da Bomb" for getting me geared up on the road. Yep, pretty much. Graduated with majors in psych and philosophy, and after a wasted year in a graduate program in philosophy went on to get a master's degree in counseling psychology with a school counseling credential. Started out working in high schools, and over the last 29 years have done just about everything in a high school that you can do other than teaching .... counseling and administration. Have also worked in school district admin for a bit, but decided three years ago to go back to working with the kids as a plain old counselor. That is how I want to spend my remaining work years ... with the kids. Today I helped a girl complete her application to MIT, and comforted a different girl who was just diagnosed with chlamydia ... and a little of everything in between. Then the following year, he's back on the road again!! Fuck that. I'm sick and tired of it. If any artist plays a "farewell" tour and goes back on the road within five or ten years, I think that it should be considered false advertising, and we should all be eligible for a full refund on our original tickets.
