It was Alpine Valley in the mid '80's and the dead were doing their usual 2nd set shift into drumz>space. I instinctively began to follow the herd to the restroom. As the line progressed I swore that Bob Seger was just ahead of me. I was young then and still searching for my sexuality and our eyes met and I blushed. I knew it was Bob Seger, only this one had dilated pupils. We reached the stalls at the same time and I glanced down and the band steered into Lost Sailor and for one moment everything was right in the world. ------------------------------ From: "gb" Subject: anyone going to check out CREAM? Date: Fri, 14 Oct 2005 19:33:52 -0700 Here is the latest entry in Robert Hunter's online journal, posted to the newsgroup as a service to the last 2.863 Deadheads on Usenet without Web access. Web-enabled folks can find this at: => Band Members => Hunter => Journal 2004 Unfortunately, he's removed all the old (pre-Sept. 2001) journal entries from the site (but you can still find them through a Google Groups search). (search rmgd for the words Hunter Journal) MZ ====================begin quote================== 10.14.05 Finished Doppelganger. Hard to let that cast of characters go, I became so deeply involved with their comings and goings. I began another novel immediately. Unlike touring, which is over when it's over, writing is always there for me. Am five chapters into writing Beauty and the Wiseguy. I'm never truly happy unless I'm writing and there isn't much call for my songwriting services these days. As far as touring goes, my leg has not bounced back to real usability yet. I would not be able, for example, to carry my guitar and suitcase in airport and touring situations, or climb several flights of stairs. On the plus side, I've virtually stopped playing guitar and the shoulder pain, which I thought required surgery, has disappeared. I keep up my requisite musical needs by playing horn these days. So there it is. I'm not as unhappy as I might be over this turn of events. I've decided I have ten novels in me and expect to write the last page of the last one just as I turn senile. I'm certainly not adverse to touring again when my physical health permits. I feel very optimistic and am more focused than I've been in a long time. Even if it took a knee operation to force me into it, everything in me tells me I'm doing what I must do. Thanks for your patience. I'm just playing the cards life has dealt me. =====================end quote=================== -- ===================Michael Zelner=== michaelz@zoka.nosp*m.com ---take out "nosp*m." to reply------- ------------------------------ From: "Steve Terry" Subject: Re: 35 Years ago today... The two things I remember well, Bobby with the funky voice thing going on during Estimated reprise, and thinking it was a good idea to study for some exams during break.. only to discover nearly everyone in the top row of the arena was doing the same. It was also the first time I ever slept with a 12pack for a pillow. Anyways, my buddys Cheech and I remember heading down the freeway and realizing we were going the wrong way when we passed the tour buses heading the NYC (we should have been heading north). These shows absolutely kicked ASS. I haven't listened to them ever since..
