Having seen both I have to say it depends on who Walter is playing with. If it's "Robert Walter's Super Heavy Organ" -- Walter with Skerik, Johnny Vidacovich), and James Singleton - then go see that. Highly recommended - prolly in my top 10 favorite shows of the year. If OTOH it's "Robert Walter's 20th Congress" then go see Les instead. Walter's 20th Congress is good, and you'd still have a fun time, but IMO Les is better and more entertaining. One does not get pissed off by people that one is indifferent to--it is that simple. Perhaps it is as simple as the fact that you are a fellow Dead freak, and folks with that common ground at least theoretically ought to hang together. I dunno. No point in analyzing it, so I will let it go. > Well, you could always send me a private email and bring up any point you > think I should consider. Would you prefer that? Thing is, I wasn't trying to one-up you ... I was trying to get you to see that you were doing exactly the same thing to leftie that you were accusing him of. I don't see that as one-upsmanship. I guess I would also have to point out that you absolutely blasted Sherry on a personal level in the public forum ... yet at the same time you are suggesting that I bring my concern to you in the privacy of email. I think you have a double standard operating. One standard for you ... one for the rest of us. And I am pointing that out. > Also, you're inconsistent on who you choose to go after. For instance, > you never once criticized Sherry for her absolutist opinion on ADD/ADHD > and her insistence that I and others were misinformed cause she LIVES IT. Well, I think if you go back and look at the original thread, you will find that *I* am the one who first questioned her statement about the diagnosis of her son via the use of scanning technology. I didn't tell her that she was full of shit ... I just asked her if she knew something I didn't. I found out what I needed to know without the accompanying drama. At that point, the conversation kind of dissolved into an acrimonious and accusatory kind of interaction which I thought was unfortunate. Defenses went up, and the conversation went to hell. > Fact is, she was misinformed on several aspects of that subject. Probably she is. And you are as well, in my opinion. And I will be the first person to stand up and say that there is a lot I don't know about ADD, and even less that I understand about it. > But because you generally agree with her overall position, it was okay to > ignore that. And the way I see it I don't believe that I ever agreed one way or the other ... I just simply chose not to attack her personally because of some perceived failing on her part with respect to what she knows or doesn't know about ADD interventions. I saw you implying that she was negligent. Which changed the course of the conversation from what we could learn from one another regarding ADD, to how we can salvage our personal integrity from the interaction. See the difference? > is that you're holding a grudge because I stood my ground. Am I perfectly > civil? Hell no. I just checked and it's Robert Walter's Super Heavy Organ, with 'special guest' Stanton Moore. It looks like Skerik won't be with them at this show - Tim Green (whom I'm not familiar with) is on sax instead. That's unfortunate, since the Walter/Skerik/Vidacovich/Singleton lineup blew out the Independent in SF a couple of months back. But Stanton Moore will take up the slack - Moore is IMO the second-best drummer on the 'jamband' circuit, second only to his teacher/mentor Johnny Vidacovich. Moore and Vidacovich on the same stage?!? If they play together that could be sick - if I were in the area that's where I would be. (Small World Dept.: Skerik used to be in Les Claypool's band, and still often sits in with him - those two are freak brothers. Skerik also sometimes plays in a trio with Stanton Moore and Robert Walter - that's also well worth checking out.)
