She can probably carry all the states Al Gore Kerry did and pick up Florida, Colorado (thee battleground state of 2008), Iowa and New Mexico just from women's votes. Any "moderate" red state Democrat such as Evan Bayh, Mark Warner etc will have to jump to the left to pick up primary voters who tend to be more liberal than the people who don't start paying attention until after labor day. Then they will have to jump back to center to appeal to mainstream voters leaving their flank open to credibility attacks and flip flop accusations. There are also just as many Republicans with their eye on the prize but its not going to be a very hard fought battle once the primaries get going. They will go into the general election a little stronger while the Democrat will have been weakened in a bruising fight for the nomination, with all the heaviest blows laid by fellow Democrats. ------------------------------ From: "Carlisle" Subject: Re: mmmm...Chipmunk Fricassee (NDC) Date: 24 Sep 2005 09:43:57 -0700 Carlisle wrote: > She will bring you dinner if you're game. ;~) > > cheerios, > carrie Scratch that-- Make that emotion one of- I just had to take another critter to the compost pile and smell rotting carcases of the other victims. Nah...it's all about personalities in a presidential race. The more likable person the easier to win the more independent or moderate red leaning states. I'm not convinced Republicans are going to nominate that kind of guy. Frist is already toast IMO. McCain would definitely win, but Republicans by and large distrust the guy for being halfway sane. Condi would be an interesting choice, but there's too many racists and Christian right types to get her the nomination. Could you imagine? A single black female nominated by the far right? Won't happen in my time. Rudy maybe? Nah. Too blue for neon red crowd. -JC ------------------------------ From: jizzlobber@intergate.com Subject: Re: Gore 08 ??? I think she just has a burning desire to be President and anything else is amendable or expendable in order to attain that goal. Not that there is necessarily anything wrong with that. You have to look and sound like you really want it. Bush 92, and Kerry (among others) didn't have the fire. It might be enough to make a difference regardless of the issues that matter at that time. ------------------------------ From: "pv34pv3p" Subject: Re: First Hand Account From a Friend... I think > she just has a burning desire to be President and anything else is > amendable or expendable in order to attain that goal. I think she has very strong convictions about domestic issues and the economy. When it comes to national defense and security, she tends to ride the wave, which puts her in a moderate position. But the thing about Hilliary is...she's a very cold personality. Really not the kind of person that does well on the TV screen, which I think has a lot to do with why there's a segment of the American population that hates her so much. In reality, guys like Kerry or Dubya are no different. They all crave very powerful positions. See, this idea that Dubya never wanted to be the the president early on was one of the biggest con jobs ever sold to Americans. Take a look at his family and their history. Dubya sold everyone this idea that he was a down-to-earth outsider from Texas. There's not one shred of truth there, but personality wise he's able to make the sell. That has always been Bush's genius. He's not an intellectual, but he's a hell of a sales man. Hilliary would have trouble selling a Mercedes for $5 she's so bad at it. But I don't doubt she has leadership skills. Peas, -JC ------------------------------ From: Walter Karmazyn Subject: Re: San Francisco Deadheads..... The way I read it, if you are not eligible to be presnit ... either because you lack the requisite citizenship requirements, age, or you have already done two terms, then you are not eligible to be vice-presnit. The apparent reason being, of course, that if you are v.p. you might at some point be called upon to assume the office of the presnitcy.
