Too reserved. Too...predictable. That being said, I've got a few older RD shows in my collection that I really enjoy listening to from time to time. Would I go see 'em again? It's good (the GAMH show) but never goes above that line separating magic from great IMO. If you want magic, listen to some of that crazy shit from '74 like the post-Truckin jam from 8-5-74 or the Playin the next night. > All this and youth too! Too bad I was pretty much > as dumb as a rock back then , but one can't have > everything, I suppose. Good memories. There was also the live birth that day there with Phil going, "is there a doctor out there!" or something like that. I know this because I have the tape to it. Do you remember the Dead and/or Starship being really loud (though good sounding)? I was playing basketball at Alamo playground at 22nd Ave between Califormia and Clement which is probably close to a mile from Lindley Meadows and I could hear it from there. I wasn't into the Dead then (I thought they were a heavy metal band) though I still kick myself for not going because I did like Starship (I had known a few days before that Starship was playing there that day). Of course I couldn't distinguish lyrics or songs, just heard sounds that were obviously from the bands playing at Lindley Meadows I remember about five years later another concert there where Mitch Mitchell, drummer for Hendrix's band, played there but his drumming was a distant shadow of what it had been with Jimi. John Lee Hooker played that day too. Dolly Parton's playing there this weekend for free. :^) Anyway, thanks for the recollections. Those were the days.
