My son got his license today! As they say, 3rd time was the charm. :) He is thrilled and so am I. :) First thing we did when we got home was move Thea's car seat back into my car (he's been driving us all everywhere all the time since he got his own car, his choice). Then, he called up his friends and made PLANS. I don't expect him home until late tonight. At 18, I'm not holding him to a curfew. Now I can "progress" from having to stay up late to drive him home, to staying up late worrying he's lying somewhere in a ditch after a crash. I am SO happy for him! :) Sherry in Vermont ------------------------------ From: "pookietooth" Subject: Re: cast the grateful dead movie Date: 26 Sep 2005 12:56:17 -0700 Bobby - Val Kilmer Jerry - Benicio del Torro Phil - Johnny Depp ------------------------------ From: "natch" Crossposted-To: rec.arts.movies.current-films,rec.music.beatles,rec.music.rock-pop-r+b.1960s Subject: Re: most you've driven in one day Date: 26 Sep 2005 12:57:04 -0700 alejandro de tacobell wrote: > one time, i drove for 7 hrs straight. top that. please thats a stroll into town ------------------------------ From: "9fingers" Subject: Re: RIP, Agent 86 Date: 26 Sep 2005 13:01:55 -0700 tim_ratdog wrote: > Josh wrote: > > http://edition.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/TV/09/26/obit.adams.ap/ > > > > :-( > > > > -Josh > > I asked you not to tell me that! > > -tim ....And loving it! ------------------------------ From: Subject: Re: RIP, Agent 86 Date: Mon, 26 Sep 2005 13:04:36 -0700 greek_philosophizer@hotmail.com wrote: : RickNBarbInSD wrote: :> Sorry about that Chief! : NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : First Scotty, the Gilligan and now Agent 86! : This is not right. : We can go to the moon but we cannot ensure the unusually long longevity : of our cultural icons? Some quick Googling says that they never revealed her name, that she claimed to be 'Susan Hilton' in one episode, but later told Max it was a lie. -- bruce higgins ithaca ny most of the day, we were at the machinery ------------------------------ From: "Andrew Murawa" Subject: SKB - Capistrano Date: Mon, 26 Sep 2005 13:31:49 -0700 This could be summed up in one word: Wow! I've seen the SKB perhaps 8 or 10 times with a variety of different lineups, and this was, without so much as a doubt, the best show and the most exciting lineup that I have seen... I woke up Saturday morning, and just generally felt like shit. It seemed like I was in the middle of fighting off some type of mild illness (although it certainly could have been the several beers and cigarettes I sucked down at my local brewery's anniversary party the night before)... Anyway, as the day went on, I became more and more sure that I was gonna have to skip the show that evening... As late as 6:00, I had decided that I was gonna stay at home and rest up, but about 45 minutes later, I got inspired, popped some aspirin, grabbed some discs for the drive, and got in the car and on the freeway before I could change my mind... The venue is about 45 minutes or so from my house, a pretty straight shot, and I got there in good time, cranking some recent Stein/Leo/Kost era SKB... Good enough stuff I suppose... I got to the venue about 7:45 or so... The tickets said the show was at 8:00, but I didn't believe it for a second... Oddly enough however, the show actually got started pretty damn close to that... Perhaps 8:15 at the latest... Anyway, I show up, park and get inside pretty quick, grab myself a Guinness (pretty weak beer selection to tell the truth...) and head outside for a smoke, where I run into Steve, Robert Walter, and some other guy, who it quickly became apparent was Reed Mathis, writing up the evening's setlist... I sit back, enjoy my beer and my smoke and I'm ready to go... When I head back inside, I check out the crowd, see a few friendly faces I recognize, and head over to chat up a few friends... Some time, just before the show starts, some guy comes up to me and wants to take my picture, because of my killer, brand-new, Nick's Picks tie-dye that I just had to wear for the occasion. I got quite a few good compliments on this thing tonight... That Nick sure does some great work... Anyway, its getting closer to show time, so I start to look for a good place to take in the show... Unfortunately, this place is set up as one of those dinner-theater type places, so there are these long tables all over right in front of the stage... So I scope out a place in the back where I can get my groove on... Once there, I meet this guy who is a friend of Kimock's son, and as such has access to the backstage fridge, and is bringing me beer after beer all night... Sure as hell beats paying $7.50 for a Guinness... Show gets off to a start with a nice Hi&Lo and things are on and this band proceeds to kick some serious ass... I'm seriously digging the new lineup... Robert Walter adds so much to this band, giving the band a legitimate second lead player, who can also play tasty fills while Kimock does his thing... And the addition of an exceedingly interesting second lead means meatier and longer jams... At times, where this band in the past might have just wrapped up a jam and headed back to the theme, instead Walter is just beginning to take his solo, which in turn is followed up by another Kimock lead back to the main theme... Good stuff all around... Reed Mathis was a nice surprise too... I was unfamiliar with this guy coming into the show, but he not only held his own, but he is also supplying a little new material to te band as well, as they worked out a bit on a Mathis song... And he sure seems to be having a lot of fun partnering with Rodney, who continues to be just about the most exciting single drummer on the planet... There were times during the show where Mathis was just laughing his ass off at trying to keep up with Rodney, but keeping up nonetheless... And as far as Kimock, he is just playing with as much confidence and fire as ever... Very little laying back and floating through jams here, especially in the second set... There is a lot of balls to the wall shit going down here, with the SKB no longer being strictly the Kimock and Holmes show, but a full band effort that kept me grooving all night long... All in all, a great show, and the most interesting SKB experience that I have had... The drive home was pretty interesting, (despite the severe lack of deli sandwiches), including a truck that was towing a car that started to slip a bit just in front of me, casting a spray of sparks all over the freeway... Not so good... And then, just a mile or so perhaps from my exit, the freeway comes to a screeching halt, absolutely dead stopped, cars sliding to a stop all around me, where we proceed to sit, without so much as moving, for 10 minutes or so... Man, I really had to piss too... Anyway, get home, grab a beer, watch the end of the SC game (damn trojans) and shuffle off to bed, all before 2:00... And although I didn't feel entirely better the next day, I'm pretty sure that getting out and having some fun on Saturday night was far better for my health than sitting at home and feeling like shit... Anyway, when all is said and done, get out and see this lineup while ya can... Very impressive... ------------------------------ From: "dyrewlf" Subject: Re: Patriots continue to own the Steelers Date: Mon, 26 Sep 2005 20:34:46 GMT "RickNBarbInSD" wrote in message news:1127763120.327483.312680@f14g2000cwb.googlegroups.com... > > I have to agree that Eli Manning is the real deal, John. The coaches are freaking idiots. When Faulk was in his prime the Rams were undefeated when he had 25 or more touches and you'd see a line like 13 for 52. Mike Martz is the biggest fucking idiot followed closely by Holmgren. Holmgren actually had "Run the Ball" written circled in red and starred, on his clipboard last week, like you really need a reminder to use Alexander more.
