I had to go six months without either a shower or a bath due to a very large open chest wound. Had 3 sponge baths total in the hospital, that was for an entire month. I was in SICU, they were too busy for minor stuff like cleanliness. Insurance didn't cover a home health nurse doing that for the next five, so she didn't. I washed my hair in a sink and dabbed a soapy sponge under my pits and in my crotch every now and then. My first few showers after all that were about 2 hours long. And the longest I went without showering was also when I was in the hospital. They had me hooked up to the suction thing on the wall "preparing" my stomach for surgery and I wasn't allowed out of bed. So, it was five days. After the surgery, when I could hardly move without screaming from the pain, they made me get up and take a shower the next day. The day after that I insisted that they get me a shower chair, though. kathy ------------------------------ From: leftie Subject: Re: My NYC Experience 9/22/05 Date: Fri, 23 Sep 2005 13:43:06 -0700 Rogues Island's finest wrote: > The Iron Muffin wrote: > >>Hey now, my freaky darlings. > > > > > Oh.
