How can she take the bible so seriously when it is the product of Constantine and the King James meeting; most of Jesus's actual teachings are missing. [...] I have a few well educated friends who still argue that our feckless leader is doing a good job. I also have a couple friends whose education stopped at high school who are the same way. It's not so much the level of education that compels some people to toe a particular party line at all costs, it's their ability to understand that their own beliefs might not always be "right," combined with their willingness to accept that someone from "the other side" has a valid point. ------------------------------ From: "Dylanstubs" Subject: Re: ndc-two subjects not to discuss with folks you like Date: 21 Sep 2005 13:02:48 -0700 Sort of like trying to explain why the Spring '77 tour doesn't do much for you. :) ------------------------------ From: "Dylanstubs" Subject: Re: JGB Date: 21 Sep 2005 13:09:08 -0700 > Why no JGB on archive? How sad. I had some TIMES on that beauty. How sad. A LOT of blood, sweat, vomit, & public intoxication and public exposure were some of the experiences riding the 'Ole #7 I vividly recall a memorable night after a Jerry Garcia concert at the Warfied Theater...late 80's...we boarded the 7 back to the Haight...it was in the throes of a particularly powerful LSD trip, that I somehow convinced myself that I was being driven down Market Street in a super chicken w/black bean burrito....I recall screaming at the driver something like..."FASTER MAN!.....I thought I told you NO sour cream"!....then I proceeded to remove my clothes... I remembered how hard it is to properly remove guacamole stains... the driver just smiled...he'd been thru scenes like that more times than he could care to remember. A pro. How sad. Who knows how many times I slipped in the back door without paying the fare?....THATS how forgiving that bus was. Incredible How VERY sad, indeed. I will be in seclusion until further notice. What I am saying is that for most kids there does not seem to be a definitive way to diagnose. It is not like a broken arm, where you do an xray, or do a blood test which shows some bacteria, or something like that. They can only infer that ADD is what it might be by doing a case study. That is why I am very interested in Sherry's information! If the docs have ruled out other possible causes or explanations for the behavior, and nothing else is working, they may try medication to see if it is helpful. If it is helpful, then they see it as confirming the diagnosis. But no, they don't just pop pills into kids mouths as a diagnostic tool. Zeppelin had the reputation of being the Rock and Roll Mafia. Peter Grant was brutal as their manager, and then there are the stories about the jam session with Page., Jeff Beck, Moonie and Entwistle, when Moon said something about it "going over like a Led Zeppelin" (I believe that these sessions were the genesis of "Beck's Bolero", but it is all sort of hazy now). "The Lemon Song" was a direct lift lyrically from Robert Johnson. Having said that, I still LOVE Zeppelin, and Jimmy Page is one of the great all time acoustic guitarists, never mind his electric playing. All hail the mudshark!!!! (The story of which was later immortalized by the great FZ on "The Mothers-Live from the Fillmore East") God I love Rock and Roll trivia........
