This is reminding me of the complaints I heard from bartenders in N'Awlins about the 50,000 Southern Baptists that held their convention in the Superdome every year. But see, that's really about how it goes. Molecular biologists go to the conventions pretty much to attend the seminars and learn about the latest technology. The idea of maybe missing the keynote address because you're having a menage a trois with your technician and a hooker, well, nope, that ain't in the protocol. Sounds like > the author has an axe to bow, er grind. True it sounds ridiculous. But reading it forces me to buy that live Yardbirds concert that was recorded just before everyone quit but Page and the Yardbirds became the New Yardbirds (the first name of what became Led Zeppelin). After reading it, I'm too curious now on McCarty's drumming and on why it is a psychedelic masterpiece. I know it is not going to top the Zep versions (and I highly doubt it will match Zep's live versions) but it might be radically different and still great. Page was playing some really interesting and intense guitar in the first couple years of Zep which also makes me want it. Allmusic.com gave it a nice review too.
