Some people thought that kids with ADD & ADHD were the spawn of the 70's recreational drug users. Don't laugh... Lots of these people will be in a school near you!! Is it over prescribed? Or is it the demand? Personally, Ritalin would be my last resort. This time last year, my almost 5 year old, looked hyper. So I talked to a child-shrink. We looked at sensory integration and found some deficits. The prescription? Occupational therapy. Exercise routines that look similar to gymnastics. This year, he looks like a different kid, READY for school. The brain is a remarkable organ! One example. It worked for us. Would that work for every kid? Maybe, maybe not? But Ritilin can't be the ONLY answer. The important thing is to get the hyper-ness under control so that the child can focus on learning. .. ------------------------------ From: "Stuknot" Subject: Re: issues (ndc) Date: 20 Sep 2005 13:54:43 -0700 leftie wrote: > Roxanne McDaniel wrote: > > > 1. It's only recently they're being asked to follow the law in New York. If we had Eliot Spitzers everywhere, however, things might be different. Thanks for all the info, these are exactly the types of tips I was hoping for that Orbitz won't tell me about. Another friend mentioned Subterranean Records in the Village. I'm going to the final show, but I plan to get there one day early to check out the city. I don't mind riding around Manhatten (sic), on the subways, I just don't want to try to get all the way from JFK airport to MSG via public transportation. Hell, it looks like it's only about 2 miles wide, I can walk just about anywhere (but wouldn't if there is a train). I'll be in Manhattan for about 48 hours (minus however late the train is, and they always are) so I should have time for a decent loop around the lower part of the island. In the early '80s, the solos on certain songs were just amazing (check out the Tangled Up from 3-6-82) and the organ played a big role in the sound and would do great solos that Garcia would play fabulous rhythms behind, helping to build up great tension to be released later. A fantastic example of this is the Catfish John from that same show as the Tangled Up, 3-6-82. The Catfish from that Keen College may have this too (it is incredible - that I know). > > > > Also, there's not as even a balance between the ballads and rockers. > > Too many ballads in a row for my taste. I think '80 - '82 was the prime years for the JGB though live it was good until the very end (unlike the Dead at least as far as Garcia's playing goes). Two more smokin shows are 2-29-80 (the day after the Keen College release - they should have taken the best from both nights or just released both separately since everything on 2-29-80 is incredible) and 3-6-82 (another show where just about everything is incredible including the best version ever of Sugaree, Dead or nonDead).
