"Cool shirt man." Yes, yes it is. Aside from the Dead (and bands I worked for), BOC was the band I saw the most (15+ times). The last shirt of their's I got was when they toured as Soft White Underbelly in the mid-80s. The front of the shirt had a lizard/frog thing laying on it's back in a pool of blood w/the BOC logo hooked through it's belly. That one got *lots* of comments. I think my favorite BOC shirt was from the 'Fire of Unknown Origin' tour. The album cover worked really well as a tshirt graphic. I recently saw a clip of them performing "Dont Fear the Reaper" in 2004. It really bugged me that one of my alltime favorite bands now looks like a bunch of high school chemistry teachers getting together to play BOC covers on the weekends -- tho I give them credit for never throwing in the towel, regardless of shrinking record sales and having to play club tours in the late 80s... At the beginnig of summer, I found an ancient Pink Floyd/Dark Side of the Moon tshirt that I'd long since forgotten about. The first day I wore it (in June), I ended up in an emergency room after aggravating a torn ligament in my thumb. Almost every nurse and doctor that either treated me or just walked by commented that they thought it was a cool shirt. I guess some things never go out of style... ------------------------------ From: The Lord of Eltingville Subject: Re: Any Tour shirts you wish you still had? A friend's sister makes comforters out of old tshirts. She showed me one that was made from all her old punk shirts and I liked the way it came out. I've thought about getting together a collection of a couple dozen or so of my favorite tshirts that are stuffed away in drawers and boxes and sending them up to Maine to be made into something that I'll get some use out of. ------------------------------ From: "pv34pv3p" Subject: Re: The REAL Disaster (NDC) Date: 19 Sep 2005 19:59:29 -0700 >in LA after the Rodney King riots Hell...what about SF??? Many of whom were doing business in LA because they couldn't afford to open their shops on Rodeo drive, some who could barely speak english and ended up in that neighborhood because they couldn't afford to go anywhere else. When the shit hit the fan though there were people who immediatly targeted the non black businesses. That is a pure form of racism. 1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. 2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race. No matter how you twist the meaning of the word to avoid hurting people's feelings, it is still racism by both definitions of the word. If you want to get into generational or institutionalized racism that might be a different story, but when you look at any of the examples I provided and the definition of racism you can see that black people can be racists. I would post a link to a Farrakhan speech but that might start a whole week of racism posts. ------------------------------ From: "Carlisle" Subject: Re: Global Warming!...President fails to act! You bring up national security. I just don't want to see us *overact* just like the Bush Administration did on the terror threat. Follow me? Government power and largess has grown exponentially under the name of *fighting terror*..We are now bogged down in Iraq and will need to do extensive nation building half way around the world all in the name of "national security"..I just don't want the USA over react regarding the global warming/climate change matter either. I was under the impression steps were being taken to make emissions cleaner.. It seems there are many things the US can do(to have a cleaner/cooler environment) before accepting those unilateral sacrifices that Kyoto implementation would call for. You seem knowledgeable enough Ray, what do you propose we do? respect. carrie ------------------------------ From: "Carlisle" Subject: Re: (NDC): Head for the mountains! Bush!! I scored a *huge* ball (size of a large chicken egg) of opiated hash from a kid that was running from the cops. He needed to ditch what he was carrying carrying so that he couldn't get busted for possession/dealing. I was standing by a concession stand in the walkway at the back of the balcony with my friend Mark when he ran up to us and asked me if I smoked hash. I told him "sure" and he stuffed the foil-wrapped ball into my hand and ran off. I slipped it in my pocket and tried to look casual as a few of Boston's finest went sprinting by in pursuit of the kid. I'm still not sure if he expected us to stand there and wait for him to come back to claim his hash, but we hotfooted it back to our seats a couple sections away and kept a low profile for the rest of the night. My chillum got a helluva workout and we were all blissfully high for at least a week afterward.
