I've looked..I'm still looking..The bottom line > > is--what are the answers?? Carrie, If you are looking for answers with *absolute* certaintly you then won't find them - that's simply not the way science works. The only way we will know with *absolute* certaintly about the effects of global warming is after the fact - if even then. So if you -- and FTM all of us -- wait for *absolute* certaintly before we act here it will be too late to do anything about it. Again think of the terrorist threat: like global warming it exists as a real threat, but we won't know with *absolute* certaintly what we are dealing with until after the fact - if even then. And with addressing terrorism -- just like when addressing environmental threats like global warming -- some of our predictions will have been incorrect. But does that mean we shouldn't act to address these real threats to our safety and national security? That's a value judgement, of course, but in my view not to such threats is crazy - IMO we should always address substantial threats to our safety and national security, even when we aren't *certain* about the actual nature of the threat. YMMV. > > Here is an interesting site only meant to give another perspective. > > http://www.skepticism.net/faq/environment/global_warming/ > > respect, > > carrie > > > Let me try again- > http://www.skepticism.net/faq/environment/global_warming/ This site is mostly old information and has many outdated and broken links. It also links to the Heartland Institute (acutally the link is broken) - a conservative "think tank"/poltical propaganda entity that is notoriously biased against environmentalism and puts politics before science. As such, because of the inclusion of this link I don't trust the judgement, objectivity, or understanding of the issue by this site's creator. Many black people hate you because of the color of your skin. Tell that to the family of the white store owner on 125th Street in NYC who got killed after a Sharpton rally. "Cool shirt man." Yes, yes it is. Aside from the Dead (and bands I worked for), BOC was the band I saw the most (15+ times). The last shirt of their's I got was when they toured as Soft White Underbelly in the mid-80s. The front of the shirt had a lizard/frog thing laying on it's back in a pool of blood w/the BOC logo hooked through it's belly. That one got *lots* of comments. I think my favorite BOC shirt was from the 'Fire of Unknown Origin' tour. The album cover worked really well as a tshirt graphic. I recently saw a clip of them performing "Dont Fear the Reaper" in 2004. It really bugged me that one of my alltime favorite bands now looks like a bunch of high school chemistry teachers getting together to play BOC covers on the weekends -- tho I give them credit for never throwing in the towel, regardless of shrinking record sales and having to play club tours in the late 80s... At the beginnig of summer, I found an ancient Pink Floyd/Dark Side of the Moon tshirt that I'd long since forgotten about. The first day I wore it (in June), I ended up in an emergency room after aggravating a torn ligament in my thumb. Almost every nurse and doctor that either treated me or just walked by commented that they thought it was a cool shirt. I guess some things never go out of style... ------------------------------ From: The Lord of Eltingville Subject: Re: Any Tour shirts you wish you still had? A friend's sister makes comforters out of old tshirts. She showed me one that was made from all her old punk shirts and I liked the way it came out. I've thought about getting together a collection of a couple dozen or so of my favorite tshirts that are stuffed away in drawers and boxes and sending them up to Maine to be made into something that I'll get some use out of. ------------------------------ From: "pv34pv3p" Subject: Re: The REAL Disaster (NDC) Date: 19 Sep 2005 19:59:29 -0700 >in LA after the Rodney King riots Hell...what about SF???
