Rich: Well said - Franklins is one of those that's just hard to beat. For me, the best one is 3/31/87. They friggin just explode out of a smokin' Straw straight into a powerhouse Franklins. You say you dig the syncopation; this one is a bit (well alot) more balls-on rockin than syncopated, but it kicks off in top gear and just keeps going - the whole gang just locks into that groove, seeming to feed off the crowd which is way into it. But don't skip the show-opening JS because it rips, and sets it up the Franklins perfectly. One last tip it must be played LOUD! IMHO one of their top 3 or 4 show openers ever... be interested to hear your take on it. ------------------------------ From: band beyond description <123@456.com> Subject: A Japanese sociological study for the benefit of Sweetbac (NDC) Date: Sun, 18 Sep 2005 10:11:50 +0900 http://www.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/getarticle.pl5?fd20050918pb.htm -- Peace, Steve ------------------------------ From: "pv34pv3p" Subject: Re: 700 Dead in Chicago!...President/FEMA fail to act! Largely invisible to the media's radar, a broad-based rescue effort by federal, state and local first responders pulled 25,000 to 50,000 people from harm's way in floodwaters in the city. Comments: We are posting this from a blog as it is behind a subscription wall at Newsday and you know how we hate when that happens.Look for more of this in the future. ================================================================================ Reply 1 - Posted by: Maybeth, 9/17/2005 6:09:03 AM If anyone wonders why Old Media does not find these stories of bravery and rescue to be newsworthy, it's because 'what went right' does not blend with their hate-filled agenda ...... to get Bush, at any cost. They stepped in their own poop on the ABC interviews a couple of nights ago. Expecting to hear victims point fingers and rant against our government, those interviewed did just the opposite. They were proud and appreciative of the aid in process. It was wonderful!!! ================================================================================ Reply 2 - Posted by: Judy W., 9/17/2005 7:05:00 AM "What looked like a hurricane relief breakdown was in fact a press release breakdown." The media don't understand decentralized initiative; they think everything has to come from central government direction. It's interesting that various government agencies acted on their own -- even the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, which claimed 20,000 rescues. ================================================================================ Reply 3 - Posted by: jglas, 9/17/2005 7:06:54 AM Surprise, surprise, the MSM failed to get the story, and played politics with the one they did get. ================================================================================ Reply 4 - Posted by: acidkibitzer, 9/17/2005 7:07:29 AM We would welcome a madcap Cindy 'nasty' Sheehan demonstration or encampment in New Orleans ... as long as it is done ... under water. We understand that there are a few soggy spots left. ================================================================================ Reply 5 - Posted by: VRWconspiracy, 9/17/2005 7:17:35 AM This is typical American behavior -- taking the initiative without waiting for big brother's approval. But it also implicitly points out the failure of Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco for not providing reliable contact points to direct rescue forces to the most afficted areas. The ad hoc groups of rescuers did not sit around waiting for permission slips from their mommies or "orders" from incompetent politicians. They just improvised and did their best -- which turned out to be damned good indeed. ================================================================================ Reply 6 - Posted by: delta dave, 9/17/2005 7:20:54 AM The artilce says ... "113 choppers were in operation around New Orleans by Sept. 1" and it mentions hundreds of boats in operation all. I guess all this activity and the continuous stream of arrivals at the Superdome was somehow unobserable to everyone from the Mayor and Governor down to the MSM who were busy looking everywhere for the floating bodies of the drown and dead. Maybe they thought the 113 heliocopters buzzing around were just large Louisana swamp mesquitos ================================================================================ Reply 7 - Posted by: Daisymay, 9/17/2005 7:21:54 AM I'm still waiting for Shep Smith, at FOX, to APOLOGIZE to the Bush administration for jumping to the conclusion that they were leaving those folks on the Bridge there...well..because they DIDN'T CARE! For days he stood there and screamed and yelled "where is the Red Cross"? Why doesn't ANYONE care about these people"...well, now we know WHERE the Red Cross was...outside the City because the Governor wouldn't let them in! Haven't heard a WORD on FOX from Shep that he was WRONG to blame BUSH! ================================================================================ Reply 8 - Posted by: SouthernNotStupid, 9/17/2005 7:48:10 AM What? Wait a minute, that wasn't a success. The boat wouldn't start, it was taking on water and everyone was sea sick from paddling six foot back to the landing point. Oh well. ================================================================================ Reply 10 - Posted by: Zarin, 9/17/2005 8:19:18 AM LOVE IT! Our guys were there from day one! The media are idiots! FTA: "There was no central clearing house for information on rescue efforts. What looked like a hurricane relief breakdown was in fact a press release breakdown." What gets me is the adults stuck on a roof complained that the helicopters just passed them by - totally selfish- forgetting that the choopers were rescuing children & the elderly first. ================================================================================ Reply 11 - Posted by: Dolley Madison, 9/17/2005 8:32:25 AM Yeah; one of the alphabet losers was down in NO, talking to those who survived, trying their level best to find criticism of the president. But the people said they did not hold the president responsible, they blamed the mayor and the governor! It seems the people understand how America is supposed to work. It's just the loser networks that refuse to do so. ================================================================================ Reply 12 - Posted by: flybynight, 9/17/2005 8:42:01 AM I just returned from a week working in a coastal Mississippi relief center, with several hundred other Episcopalians from all over the country. The scope of the devastation defies description or TV depiction. We handed out soap, canned goods, hugs, bleach, antibiotics and insulin, bedding, shoes, and everything else you can imagine needing. By the thousands, and tons. All of it, every toothbrush, t-shirt, shovel, and tomato soup, donated by American companies, American kids, and American churches. FEMA was manning one table, helping people who had lost everything begin the process of recovery. Most had moved in with relatives, some were living in tents or public shelters. 80% of the housing along the MS coast was destroyed. It was a mountainous tribute to the generosity of the people of this country. ================================================================================ Reply 13 - Posted by: LadyVet, 9/17/2005 8:46:36 AM This is one of the best descriptions I've read of Governette Blank-0's strategy: More died at the Superdome after the Governor decided on a Pol Pot solution for evacuation of the city, e.g. Starve the city dwellers to force them into the countryside. ================================================================================ Reply 14 - Posted by: flybynight, 9/17/2005 8:49:37 AM More from once-beautiful Long Beach: There are very few businesses open yet, but many tattered signs saying 'we'll be back.' And most little shops have people tearing out sodden drywall, drying out carpet, and getting ready to restock and reopen. For miles and miles, a strip four to six blocks deep from the waterfront, is scoured level. Not a stone was left on stone. For another mile or two, the houses are condemned, perhaps standing, but damaged beyond repair. For many miles inland, the view from the air is of acres of blue tarp roofs. New Orleans gets a lot of press, but until you've seen what's left of coastal MS, you haven't seen what a Cat5 hurricane can do. And until you've seen rural Mississippians pick up and carry on, many of them whose houses are gone, working in the very relief centers intended to help them, you haven't seen real courage, kindness, and determination. ================================================================================ Reply 15 - Posted by: Duke of Duval, 9/17/2005 8:53:51 AM I was surprised at how little I heard and saw about Mississippi and Alabama. I too saw Shep LIVE that night...and, in an interview with, I think, O'Reilly, where he ROLLED his eyes over the federal response. Shep's a bit too metrosexual for my blood. ================================================================================ Reply 17 - Posted by: Halfgenius, 9/17/2005 9:05:43 AM Yeah, we have Republican Governors that followed the plan and saved many lives. We have all pitched in and helped each other. But over in MS is where the heatbreaks lie. Those folks need all the help they can get and they'll get it. It take a while to remove the mountains of debris and sand and flotsam and jetsam. The roadways have to be cleared and re-built in many cases and lodging brought in for the builders to live in. Here in Alabama they used barges parked along the intercoastal waterway with trailers parked on them for temporary quarters, sanitary systems and fresh water are always a problem for relief workers but we did it. ================================================================================ Reply 18 - Posted by: NancyD, 9/17/2005 9:06:49 AM I agree with the Shep thing. Fox just interviewed some guy who owns a restaurant in NO and he said "Thank you, Thank you, Thank you President Bush, you are doing a wonderful job" The guy was gleeming! From us, the American people. ================================================================================ Reply 23 - Posted by: browneyes, 9/17/2005 10:18:57 AM Seeing Shepard Smith for 3 days in a row was stomach turning. Standing there, knowing he would be driven out in safety, his guilt was evident. Then he appeared on O.R for rehabing his image. I would not refer to him as a Journalist, rather he was and remains an exploiter. The same can be said for Joe Scarborough. He has been absolutely shameless in his coverage, But, then he needs to keep his job. NBC sent the memo to their people on-air "GET ANGRY" Russert is leading the effort. ================================================================================ Reply 24 - Posted by: flybynight, 9/17/2005 10:24:46 AM Americans-and Canadians- have been incredibly generous with short-term needs, from what I could see. The long term is likely to be even harder. What these people are going to need is some sort of major housing effort. The figure I heard was 80 per cent of all MS gulf-coast housing was demolished by Katrina. The working poor were particularly hard-hit, with little insurance, particularly flood insurance, to deal with what was a 50-foot wall of water, driven by 200mph winds. If any of you are builders, Habitat or otherwise, there's going to be several years' worth of work to be done to get 100,000 people- or more- back in their own homes. ================================================================================ Reply 25 - Posted by: LittleHoodedMonk, 9/17/2005 10:39:05 AM 'Katrina, What Went Right' I, also, hope that the President, in due time, does a public accounting of the Nations that sent aid to US. Thank you President Bush for standing firm in your dedication to rebuild what Satan sought to destroy. I pray that many good people go there to rebuild, establishing a God-loving city that will deny the Satanic influence that has governed that part of our country. God's people need to take control and dedicate the land, the people, to a better life and for all of them to enjoy peace and contentment, not terror and disaster. Of the three, the media was the most publicized. ================================================================================ Reply 29 - Posted by: SallyVee, 9/17/2005 12:29:28 PM Great description of Gov. "Pol Pot" Blanco: More died at the Superdome after the Governor decided on a Pol Pot solution for evacuation of the city, e.g. Starve the city dwellers to force them into the countryside. ================================================================================ Reply 30 - Posted by: GreatPlains, 9/17/2005 12:39:21 PM The media's behavior during Katrina for the most part was horrendous, hysterical and completely worthless. Most of the FOX reporters were great- just the facts ,not the falsehoods and fabrications. The rest of the cables and the old news outlets performed as expected-dismally. God help the country if we are all collectively in an emergency situation and have to rely on what passed for reporting during Katrina. ================================================================================ Reply 31 - Posted by: Christie, 9/17/2005 2:10:34 PM There's no wonder why that kick-butt, outspoken General (?), I forget his name, was so P-Oed when the presstitutes were asking stoopid biased questions. I would not one word of criticism to get to these dedicated service men and women, they did not deserve a word of it. HOwever, the fact that the media didn't report the good new has a two-fold explanation. The first part of the explanation is that they are only to report bad news, as the goal is to make Dubya look as bad as possible. The second part is that the 'reporters' would not approach the military for the facts since they are allergic to the facts and are particularly sceptical when the military is the source. ================================================================================ Reply 32 - Posted by: greggojo, 9/17/2005 2:17:41 PM For four days I sat glued to the television. And for four days I saw rescue after rescue, America's fine young people helping those in need. And the entire time the MSM in their rush to destroy our President reported the opposite of what all of us could plainly see. As usual with the left, this wasn't about the news or the truth, it was simply their attempt to accomplish their socialist agenda which requires the destruction of George W. Bush. ================================================================================ Reply 33 - Posted by: Cedarina, 9/17/2005 2:33:20 PM Lots went right in Mississippi & Alabama where the governors knew how to manage & administer programs. LA and NO are rife with fraud, do-nothings and know-nothings. The voters of NO and LA get what they vote for and now they don't want to pay the price. Well, I don't think I should pay either. Give them help, vouchers, grants. No cash and no ATM cards that can be turned into cash. I also don't want my tax dollars going to pay for rebuilding below water level. Turn it into open space and back to nature. NO has always turned me off as a tawdry, unkempt charactature of its past & it's been living on its past reputation. Time for a wake-up call. The first ones to go should be the mayor of NO and the governor of LA. Both are ineffective & worthless. ================================================================================ Reply 34 - Posted by: gumbino, 9/17/2005 3:06:58 PM And, #7, both Shep and Whoraldo beat their breasts and tore out their hair over 'officials' not allowing people trapped at the NOLA Convention Center to leave by crossing over a nearby bridge. Turns out, those 'officials' blocking that highway were local police from the bordering town of Gretna. (Guess they didn't want those evacuees crossing over into Gretna -- one excuse given was that there's a large shopping center right over that bridge, and town officials were afraid it would be looted.) Will we ever hear Shep or Whoraldo explain exactly WHO it was blocking those evacuees, and WHY? Not holding my breath. ================================================================================ Reply 35 - Posted by: artlover, 9/17/2005 4:19:01 PM No. 7 tells it like it was. I was so mad at Shep Smith, Geraldo and O'Reilly about the way they tore at President Bush. No wonder Bush's poll numbers went down. They blamed him for the wind, the rain, and for the people making the mess, they blamed him for everything. They were wrong. Bush had begged the governor to let the national people come in , but No, she was afraid it would mar their status as a state. Well, that status is now marred, forever. I think they will continue to mar, as it is run by democrats. They know no other way..... ================================================================================ Reply 36 - Posted by: Yorkiemom, 9/17/2005 7:23:26 PM It sounds like the good people of MS are not whining nearly as much as Joe Scarborough.
