JOB DUTIES: Conduct landscape-scale research and modeling projects that are statewide and regional in scope. This position requires expertise in landscape ecology, particularly as it relates to faunal and habitat responses to differing management practices and land use changes, the use of GIS technology, adaptive/ecosystem management, and the scientific method. Creatively adapt ecological theory and methods to the unique problems facing the agency's environmental and resource management personnel. Team research is expected and maintaining a close research affiliation with universities, state and federal agencies, and professional organizations is required. Administer individual budgets for specific research projects and monitor subcontractor performance and expenses involved with team research. WELL QUALIFIED APPLICANTS: Well qualified applicants will have academic training and professional experience related to a broad range of ecological and landscape-scale modeling issues; demonstrated skills in conceptual and spatial model development and use; an appreciable understanding of the scientific method; and effective written and oral communication skills.
