Hennes" ----------------------- Please consider 'prodding' into action, or at least in my direction, any senior (or graduate student) who might be a viable candidate for the Winston Churchill Foundation Scholarship for students of science, mathematics and engineering. Outstanding U.S. students, between ages 19 and 26, who have (or will have by the August 1998) a bachelor's degree, with strong GRE scores (October exam preferred, December is possible) and a demonstrated capacity to undertake original, independent work should consider this opportunity. Winners (the UW can nominate two for consideration) will be provided with a year's study at Churchill College, Cambridge, UK. Candidates will need to present to me, by 10th November, the following materials: 1. Copies of transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended. 2. A personal statement in the form of a brief account of your interest in science, mathematics or engineering, your reasons for wishing to study at Churchill College and your eventual career plans.. 3. At least one letter of reference completed by a faculty member familiar with your work and your potential [anyone nominated by UW will need to present four (4) such references with their formal application, due in early December].
