The intent of the program is to provide an opportunity for students to get a foundation in applied and computational mathematical sciences with areas of application. There is a common program core which leads into any of the seven different degree pathways. This new program will be accepting applications starting Autumn Quarter, 1997. It will be a competitive program. More detailed information is being sent to you in the UAC Autumn Quarter mailing, and you can check the web pages, starting the week of May 5, at the following address: http://www.ms.washington.edu/acms Many students will be effected by this new program. Those with diverse mathematical interests will find this a very attractive program. Also, students majoring in another science or engineering discipline may want to double major in ACMS. It will replace the Mathematical Sciences program offered by the Department of Mathematics. Please encourage students to talk with an advisor in the ACMS office if they have any questions.
