	Mel Gibson's 3 years at the National Institute of Dramati Art at
Univ. of New South Wales might well have put him on to Thucydides--good
coverage of theater hist. and English anyhow (see curriculum at
http://www.nida.unsw.edu.au/ ).  He has done more sophisticated things than
Braveheart and Mad Max, after all, including Hamlet and (in school in 1979)
Waiting for Godot.
