References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit hello all. back on the list for the time being because with the site still down, i don't know what's going on anymore with side projects. i could name a whole slew of bands to check out but i'll spare you all another long list and just tell you to check out the band godspeed you black emporor!. it might not be for everybody here but you've all diplayed great taste in a wide range of music in the past so here goes... they basically do instrumentals that last upwards of ten minutes a track so if that doesn't strike your fancy then they're not for you. if you're familiar with the band labradford and the scottish band mogwai, then you should run out now and pick this up. for those who fall between, they have the general guitar, bass, drum setup and have everything from violin, cello, xylophone, piano throw in for good measure. they are truly gifted in creating slow builds that just sink you when they finally hit and ride out on them. i could describe it more but i probably wouldn't do it much justice so i'll leave you with a vague description my friend came up with.... it won't make much sense as is but once you hear it, it all falls into place: "it's like listening to the soundtrack for the last person left on earth." it truly is epic in quality and you can't help but be swept in by it. no shitting aside, i want their new EP playing when the world ends or if that doesn't happen, then at my funeral. to link it somehow to failure... if you enjoy the feelings/emotions of songs like small crimes, heliotropic and daylight then you should take the time to listen to it. their new EP is called "slow riot for new zero kanada" and it's two tracks that basically melt into each other seemlessly and last together 28 minutes. it sums up about everything i've felt while listening to music these 21 and a half years of my life and will most likely stand as one of the best 28 mintutes i've ever heard. that's about it. even though i could go on. .
