Sayrs To: uwcc@u.washington.edu, advisers@u.washington.edu Subject: CC/UW conference registration September 21, 2004 Dear Colleague, We are pleased to announce that ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOW AVAILABLE for the 17th annual Community College/University of Washington Advising Conference. To register, go to: http://webapps.ued.washington.edu/cc/main.asp A detailed agenda is also available at this site. The conference will be held this year on Friday, October 29, 2004 from 8:30-3:30 in the Husky Union Building (HUB) on the UW-Seattle campus. This year's theme is "Preparing for Majors at the University of Washington." Our keynote speaker will be Philip Ballinger, Director of Admissions for UW-Seattle. For breakout sessions, many of our old favorites will make appearances. For new advisors, we'll offer Transfer 101 (although many experienced advisors might want to attend this session to hear about transfer planning worksheets and comprehensive review). The Town Hall, such a success last year, will be offered again. We are also offering sessions on engineering, business, nursing, premed/dent/vet/pharm, computer science and computing & software systems, career services, Running Start, Office of Minority Affairs, and UW-Bothell, UW-Tacoma, and Evening Degree Program options. For those of you who attend regularly we have some new offerings. There will be sessions on Prelaw, Informatics, Working with Parents, WaCAS, and the various UW Language Requirements. The Premed session will also host a representative from the National Association of Advisors of Health Professions. Finally, we will have a student panel so you can interact with successful transfer students. A note on parking: Parking on campus costs $9.00 per day, and since parking at the UW is often difficult, carpooling is encouraged. More commuter information you may find useful can be found on the site above. Please circulate this message to new advisers, counselors, or faculty who may be interested but are not yet on our list. We look forward to seeing you all on October 29, and don't forget to register! James Meadows jamescm@u.washington.edu David M.
