Blain) Subject: Re: Where are we all from? To all Slavic-UW readers, I'm from Sumner, Washington, but am going to school in Pennsylvania. I perceive the threatened cuts at UW primarily as a symptom of a growing sense of xenophobic intolerance in America; I'm involved in a group at my school (Haverford) that is opposed to xenophobia and legislation that allows inhumane, racist or xenophobic actions on the part of any level of government, legislation such as California's Proposition 187. Our group is already united with groups of a similar nature at Bryn Mawr, Swarthmore, Princeton, Yale, UPenn, and many other east coast schools. If anyone who subscribes to this listserver (is that the right name?) is involved in any anti-187 or anti-xenophobia groups and is interested in allying with our movement, or is just interested in finding out more about the movement, I would appreciate him/her sending me a message telling me briefly what s/he's doing and how s/he can be reached. Thank you for your time, Ben Blain bblain@haverford.edu .
