I have known too many gay students at UWT who are genuinely "at risk" of losing their jobs (e.g. military personnel), parental financial support & housing, etc., if they are identified as gay. It is important for us to remember that Tacoma/Pierce County lacks any legal protection against employment & housing discrimination based on sexual orientation (and we need to remember that Tacoma voters overturned that kind of law in a public referendum just before UWT opened its doors). I hope that Pride Coalition can work to support and include all people, and therefore I hope that we will remember that our individual life circumstances are enormously varied. Suzanne .
