Hi All Today I met with the parents of a freshman who has been coded a non-resident. They think their child should be coded a resident because of the following: they are civil servants never lived in Washington--often spend a month each summer though lived in Japan the last 11 years lived in Hawaii before that and still own property there 4 years ago bought property in Washington, got DL, registered to vote Am I missing something? Since they are going to the President's Office with this, I want to make sure we're ok. Even civil servants have to have lived here, right?? We are running into a lot of this type of thing. Parents saying they live here, they have done all the right things with ties, but cannot produce the documentation showing they actually resided here--usually because they haven't!
