Message-Id: Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII This is an "alert" about a situation that may concern all people who wish not to give their dollars & patronage to businesses that are anti-gay. Through a confidential conversation with someone in a position to know about the new owners of Grounds for Coffee, I've learned that the owners are overtly anti-gay, & have stated that they aren't worried about "pleasing" gay and gay-affirmative customers. Apparently, the new owners frequently make condemnatory and ugly comments about gay customers. At this point, it might be prudent for us NOT to patronize this business. Within a week (by May 10), I anticipate knowing more about this situation & will provide more information via uwtpride. Right now, because the job safety of some of the employees of Grounds For Coffee is at risk (and premature public attention to the owners' views MAY create real problems for some employees), I ask that we NOT directly confront the owners. If anyone has questions about this situation, I will be here today but will not be available again until May 7. I'll let everyone know about ways to confront the situation directly AFTER May 10.
