Cc: classics@u.washington.edu In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: X-Mailer: Execmail for Win32 5.1 Build (9) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: Text/Plain; charset="us-ascii" I am very puzzled by my being repeatedly set to 'nomail' and losing incoming messages from the list as a result. I subscribe to several mailing lists, some of which are also based in the U.S., and I have to my knowledge never given a problem to any of the others due to undelivered messages, at least from the email address I now use. Nor has anyone ever informed me that an email sent to this address was returned to them undelivered. I can imagine however that sometimes a message may be delayed in reaching me because of slow transatlantic traffic. Does the classics listserver distinguish between delayed messages (when a warning is sent to the sender and an attempt to redeliver is made), message that fail after several attempts to deliver them, and messages that fail because the host or users is unknown? If it does, could it be a bit kinder in the first case and at least attempt to tell the intended recipient that they are being set to 'nomail'? A delayed message isn't the same as one which fails altogether.
