Next time I'd like to get one with a wider screen. But the Dell seems to not being interested in quitting. Also run SAS, Stata, S-Plus - no problems there either. One item I recommend is a Maxtor external drive, 250MB which can be used for backup and a place to store GIS files. Also convenient for moving stuff back and forth to a work station. To anybody knowledgeable about laptop computers for GIS and demographics work: I'm shopping for a laptop with sufficient hard drive space, RAM, processor and graphics speed, and display resolution to crunch numbers and display large GIS and census data files and graphics. Would anyone be willing to share recommendations on hardware, operating system etc., or a particular laptop model that works well for you? All advice and ideas greatly appreciated! A. M. Kay, M.S.
