An employment authorization card doesn't do it. -----Original Message----- From: Carol Hathaway-Pitts [mailto:cpitts@mail.ewu.edu] Sent: Monday, September 27, 1999 2:53 PM To: Discussion of Residency Issues State Wide Subject: Immigration/Dependent I have a dependent who's mother WAS here on a student visa. Since then she has married a US citizen and they own a home here. on 1/14/99 she applied for her "A" card and was given an Alien Number. The dependent went to school and graduated from high school here. When he was 18 he had to return to Canada. He has returned!!! On 5/4/99 he applied to INS and has been given an Alien Number. BUT....the card he presented was an Employment Authorization that is valid 5/4/99 and EXPIRES 5/3/2000. What ever does this mean? Can he be a resident for tuition purposes? Mom has not sent a copy of her Resident Alien Card. Does the stepfather's being a resident/citizen count. .
