    We are currently recruiting for a Graduate Assistant to pursue a
M.S. degree in Biology at Utah State University  working with stream
dwelling amphibians in Washington and Oregon.  The primary objective of
the field research is the comparison of amphibian populations and
habitat characteristics in streams traversing clearcuts with and without

buffers.  The successful applicant will receive a Teaching Assistantship

with Dr. Edmund D. Brodie, Jr. while at USU during the academic year and

be employed by Longview Fibre Co. during the field season.  Applicants
should have a 3.0 GPA, and a B.S. degree or equivalent in Biology,
Ecology, Wildlife Biology/Management, Fisheries, Zoology, or similar
field.  The appointment could begin as soon as January 2000.
