The Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian, Transgender Commission, the Black Student
Commission, and the Women's Action Coalition, in accordance with the
Associated Students of the University of Washington, present:

This acclaimed African-American queer author will be reading from her new
novel, _Po Man's Child_, and presenting a discussion about queer women of
color and the expression of their experiences through writing.

Here is a little bit more about the author:

Marci Blackman is an African American queer writer. Since earning a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature from San Francisco State University
in 1995, Blackman has become a staple on San Francisco's spoken word
scene, performing her poetry and prose at venues across the country,
including a six week stint as one of the original members of the Sister
Spit Ramblin' Road Show. She was both a contributor to, and the co-editor
of the Lambda and ALA nominated anthology, _Beyond Definition: New Writing
from Gay and Lesbian San Francisco_, published by Manic D Press.
Blackman's poetry and fiction has been featured in the following
anthologies: _Signs of Life_ and _Lollapalooza '94_, Manic D Press; and
_Fetish_, Four Walls Eight Windows. She is proud to announce the
publication of her first novel, Po Man's Child on Manic D Press.
