I have been trying to  find  a discussion of or study on
so-called parenthetical PHHMI ('say') but thus far
unsuccessfully so.
What interests me especially is its use in repeating
dialogues, not dissimilar to "quoth" in English literature.
I would greatly appreciate being pointed at least in the
right direction. Lexica and grammars I have checked sub voc.
have not proven  helpful.
