To accommodate the heavy traffic, Seattle Transportation will reopen Northeast 50th Street on Seahawk and Husky game weekends. On Monday mornings following the games, the street will close to traffic again so that construction work can resume. Except for the game weekends, Northeast 50th Street will be closed to traffic between 11th Avenue Northeast and Roosevelt Way Northeast through September for underground utility and concrete paving work. A detour route is in place. In addition, on non-game days there will be single lane closures at other locations on Northeast 50th Street between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekdays. This will be for asphalt paving and sidewalk work. At least one lane will remain open in each direction. This work is a part of a project by Seattle Transportation and Seattle City Light to increase safety, better manage traffic during peak periods and special events, and to improve electrical utilities. More details about the project: Northeast 50th Street between 16th Avenue Northeast and 20th Avenue Northeast Crews are now installing concrete bus pads in this area. In mid August they will begin asphalt resurfacing of Northeast 50th Street between 16th Avenue Northeast and 20th Avenue Northeast. On-street parking will be restricted. One lane will remain open in each direction. The goal is to complete resurfacing in this section by the beginning of September. Northeast 50th Street at 11th Avenue Northeast Beginning August 20th, crews will repair a mainline sewer and pave with concrete in the intersection of Northeast 50th Street and 11th Avenue Northeast (eastern end of the detour route). For approximately one week, some lanes at this intersection will be closed and drivers should expect increased congestion. Northeast Pacific Street On Northeast Pacific Street just east of 15th Avenue Northeast, traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction during off-peak hours. The crews will replace signal poles and pedestrian signals. The work will be intermittent between mid August and mid October.
