Wouldn't insignia in this sense be anachronistic?  Or as DL would say,
"farby?"

I've received a query re: possible "insignia" of the Sacred Band.  Does
anyone know of pictures?  I suppose the lion at Chaironeia might itself
count: Pausanias says FE/ROI D' A)\N E)S TW=N
A)NDRW=N MA/LISTA TO\N QUMO/N (9.40.10).
