Apparently the two games could be played on the same tabula lusoria, to judge by Martial 14.17. In Becker's "Gallus," it's said to be like "Puffspiele" or "Trictrac" -- if anyone is up on late nineteenth-century German games. Longer references in Latin literature include Ovid, AA 3.363f., a passage of Cicero quoted by Nonius Marcellus (p. 170, 28: whose numbering this is I couldn't say: M=FCller's?), Quintilian 11.2.38, Isidore 18.64; "Gallus" also gives a number of other passages that seem less obviously relevant or useful.
