On Sat, 19 Apr 2003, Diana Wright quoted a piece beginning

Forgive my re-entry on so trivial a point, but it may be worth noting that
the slang term closing the first sentence here has a somewhat different
significance depending on which side of the Atlantic one's English was born
and bred.
