Good to hear the weather is holding out for you up there. The riding down here is incredible. Haven't found any good mtb'n yet, but ton's of great road stuff. Monday I did 7 hrs and 130 miles out to Kitt Peak-A straight, boring ass ride, but good nonetheless. Kitt Peak is pretty cool to look at as you approach as it is quite looming over the desert landscape and has quite a few astronomical observatories on it's slopes. I can only imagine how spectacular the stars are out here at night. Yesterday was the kickass ride of the century! Mt. Lemmon. I've heard and read about this one for years. It was all true. After 22 miles to the base, the actual climbing was 1:45, 21 miles, 5500 feet. The ol' ticker averaged 168 all the way up. Not bad but I was blown as it is only February and all. Once on top, I descended down the other side a ways to Summerhaven-it's name spells it all. Even saw some snow up there. This part was all very weird as I'd just come off the 80 degree valley floor, was now in snow and was 2 miles from a ski area-Whoa! After plenty of odd stares and ohmygods! from the smokers in the bar where I refilled my bottles, I climbed back out to the top and headed down. Now here's the good part-20 miles in 34 minutes, 5 cars passed, 3 climate zones, top speed of 45(it never got too steep), low speed of 35. Have fun at Tahuya this weekend to those of you going. Heading up to Phoenix for a race on the old Cactus Cup course. It will be great to race in February and still have a working bike at the end. I hear there is talk among some of you of coming on Down to Sea Otter. Do it! This is an awesome race with plenty of action for the fat tires and the skinny. Tix to SF are usually super cheap and you'll have your own personal driver while in town. I'm heading back up after Sea Otter if anybody wants to do it that way for a little road trip. Sea you all in a bit.
