Right now each program is left up to their own devices to find, create, modify and map all of their data. The need is definitely there for someone to concentrate on the data, so that replications and false starts can be avoided. Also the programs need to know what is available, how to use it, and need someone available for help in case of problems. Not to mention keeping track of training, software upgrades, etc., etc. The person involved in this right now (me!) has a full time job, and is trying to get to GIS issues on a time available basis. We are considering the position to be a senior position (an EHS two in some departments) at the moment. Any way, I will be at the Washington State Environmental Health Conference in Spokane later this week. I am speaking about our GIS system and have a copy of it running on the laptop. Look me up at the conference if you are there. I would be happy to discuss this with you further. Peter J. I am an epidemiologist working in the Environmental Health program in our Health Department. I am currently managing/creating all the databases for the Environmental Health Program as well as performing the analysis of our data (including spatial analysis using mainly Arcview). Our Health Department is in the process of trying to create a new position including the responsibilities I have summarized above. Are you aware of positions with similar job descriptions? If so, I was wondering if you would mind emailing me your (or someone else's) job description with the hourly rate of pay. It would be very helpful for our department. Thank you. Anne Marie .
