The purpose of the meeting, which was opened by WHO's Director General, Dr. Gro Harlem Bruntland, was to develop a coordinated international health research agenda - and means of implementing this - for the coming decade. Traditional medicine was included on the agenda for teh first time in such a forum. The report on the traditional medicine symposium has been posted on the website for the Global Initiative For Traditional Systems (GIFTS) of Health http://users.ox.ac.uk/~gree0179 The main conference web site is http://www.conference2000.ch With best wishes.
